The honey of the Euganea Hills
Many different kinds of honey are produced in the Euganean Hills. Let’s see some of them in detail:
Acacia honey: with a light colour and a delicate taste, it hardly cristalyzes;
Chestnut honey: with an amber colour, it has a slightly bitter taste and a fragrance of the Chestnut plant;
“Millefiori” honey: obtained from different flowers, it has different colours and flavours, according to the production zone;
Melata honey: particularly suitable for sportspeople because of the high quantity of vitamins and of minerals it contains; with a dark colour, it pitches black if liquid and brown if crystallized. It has a strong fragrance, but it is not as sweet as the other kinds of honey.
The Euganean Hills honey is included in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s list of traditional products.
