Santa Maria Assunta Church

PDFPrintE-mail

assunta-main This is the main church of Arquà Petrarca. Named for the first time in 1026, but it is surely older. The church had been enlarged during centuries and so it presents frescos, dating back to the Scuola Veneta e Bizantina till the 15th century. Inside the church, people can admire the wonderful altar piece by Palma il Giovane, representing Santa Maria Assunta. The altar is not the original one of the church, but it comes from the Olivetani monaster and it is a Francesco Rizzi’s work, of the 18th century.
